Municipal Assembly of Beja: Approved the attribution of 4 Medals of Merit.

EDIA-Alqueva Development and Infrastructure Company, João Lopes Batista, founder of Cebal, Francisco Torrão and Padre Henrique will receive the Beja Municipal Medal of Merit.

In an extraordinary meeting of the Municipal Assembly of Beja held on Monday afternoon, was approved to award the Municipal Merit Medal to the aforementioned citizens and institution.

By secret vote attributed to EDIA-Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infraestruturas de Alqueva (19 votes in favor, 2 against and 11 in blank) and João Lopes Batista, founder of Cebal (17 votes in favor, 2 against and 13 in blank) the Medal of Economic Merit was awarded, to Francisco Torrão (17 votes in favor, 2 against and 13 in blank) the Medal of Cultural Merit and Father Henrique (19 votes in favor, 1 against and 12 in blank) the Social Merit Medal.

Medals will be awarded on the day 9 May, City Day, Municipal holiday, during a Solemn Session to be held in the Noble Hall of the Municipality of Beja.

At the meeting of the Municipal Executive of 3 April, as stated in the minutes, Innervention of the Púnlico-pages 18 and 19 (Minutes 2024-04-03 City Council 007_signed), a resident presented a proposal with the names of João Cataluna (musician) and Fernando Palma (farmer), aiming at the award of Municipal Merit Medals 2024, and despite the proposal being signed by the councilor of the Coalition “Consigo Beja Consegue”, the same was not presented at the meeting held on the eve of the 25 April.
