The Municipal Council of Ponta do Sol informed, today, that it will proceed, on the 2nd and 3rd of May, to clean the eastern slope of the parish of Madalena do Mar, “with a view to the controlled removal of large stone blocks, the in order to restore the best safety conditions for locals and visitors”.
According to a note sent to the editorial team, due to the landslide that occurred on April 27, 2023, on the eastern slope of the parish of Madalena do Mar, overlooking the neighborhood of Passo, the Municipality of Ponta do Sol “will proceed to increase the conditions of stability of the cliff by removing some rock blocks that remained on the slope and thus increasing safety conditions for local inhabitants and their property”.
“Considering the complexity and risk for people and their property, the municipality will proceed with the conditioning of the intervention zone, with access and movement of people and car parking in the prohibited zone being prohibited, between 8:30 am and 5 pm”, he added yet.
This operation will be monitored and coordinated on the ground by the Ponta do Sol presidency office and the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in an intervention that will count on the collaboration of the team of rock workers from the Regional Road Directorate (DRE).
