Braga businessman Ramiro Brito, CEO of Grupo Érre, was elected today president of the Minho Business Association (AEMinho), at the elective General Assembly that took place today at the IPCA facilities, in Braga.

After, for the last three years, having held the position of first vice-president of the association, Ramiro
Brito succeeds Ricardo Costa, maintaining the focus of “embodying Minho as an engine of economic development for the country”.

Born in Braga and with a degree in International Relations, Ramiro Brito has been a businessman for over 20 years, working in the market in various business areas, such as Information Technologies,
Environment, Geographic Information Systems and Design and Communication.

He recently became a partner with Sonae Sierra in the Mesa na Praça project, located in the Municipal Market of Braga, with the aim of “reinvigorating” that area of the city. He is also “passionate” about motor sports, being an FIA international race official.

“AEMinho was born with this unique spirit, of projecting Minho in the country, and the country in the world. We were independent and sharp without ever losing the north, the one that makes us so proud, but doesn’t blind us. We were a point of convergence and dialogue between all economic agents in the region and the country, from government officials to relevant personalities from the economic, political and social community, everyone built relationships with the association and felt the openness and welcome in it, but also the sharpness of who wants to build, innovate, progress. We are, admittedly, positive”, highlights Ramiro Brito, renewing this commitment to convergence, independence and development for the next three-year period 2024-2027.

And he adds: “We have vectors that serve as a starting point for this mandate and that we want to address. Promote the growth of companies, encourage the creation of wealth, promote the appreciation of Minho and Portuguese people, productivity as a factor of economic and social development, the digital and energy transition associated with the circular economy and sustainability. We will also have the special mission of staying on the agenda, speaking and promoting solutions to issues that arise over time. Count on us to always add more.”

In a statement from AEMinho, the new president also adds that the “protagonist of our mission is the success of companies”.

“We will seek to inspire everyone close to us with this vision of companies. Associates, non-members, governments and unions. There are no us and others. Companies are a living organization in
that everyone has a role to play. You can count on our displeasure whenever someone tries to take advantage of the traditionalist vision of bosses versus workers, whatever the motivation of opportunism or populism”, says Ramiro Brito.

The elected corporate bodies count on the reappointment of José Teixeira (DST) as president of the Board of the General Assembly, Helena Paínhas (Paínhas) as president of the Fiscal Council and Ricardo Costa
(Bernardo da Costa) who now holds the role of president of the General Council.

The new executive committee is also expanded to eight members, consisting of Ramiro Brito (Grupo Érre) as president, Ricardo Salgado (DSTelecom) as 1st vice-president, Isabel Carneiro (Nau Verde), Gonçalo Pimenta de Castro, Patrícia Santos (ZOME), Nuno Mota (Banco BIG), João Pinho de Almeida (Encontre) and Graciete Lima (Infinit Label) as vice-presidents.

The formal inauguration of the new corporate bodies will take place on the occasion of the celebration of AEMinho’s third anniversary, this year with the “State of the Art” forum being subordinated to the themes of
artificial intelligence and the humanization of technology, in Guimarães, on May 24th.
