A teacher from the Vasco Santana School Group, in Ramada, Odivelas, is accused of imposing corporal punishment on students aged 10 and 11, since the beginning of the school year. “Have the kids bend over, with their elbows touching the edge of the table and their knees on the desk, so they don’t fall asleep. In other cases, they have their forehead against the wall, in an uncomfortable position, when they don’t follow what she says”, reports Hugo Ernano to CMfather of a 5th year student.
The teacher in question, of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, was identified by the PSP on Monday and on Tuesday she no longer taught classes. A report was raised and, as it is a public crime, the filing of a complaint is not required. Those in charge of education have already lost count of the number of complaints, first to the class management, then to the group.
The teacher responds with reprisals against the students: students with merit in other subjects, fight to get positive and are warned “not to dare to file a complaint, under threat that their name will be placed on the school wall”, says Ana Veloso, outraged by the treatment to which the grandson is subjected. “It looks like it did 200 years ago, the only thing missing is the paddle”, laments Cierre Poleti, defending her daughter.
