A period of 10 days with theater, music or new circus shows, in many other spaces in the city of Faro, is the proposal of the Mochila Festival, which takes place from May 16th, highlighted the organization.

Until May 26, the Algarve city will host 20 artistic shows and workshop and debate activities, during the 4th edition of Mochila — International Theater Festival for Children and Young People, which will feature performances by artists and companies such as Lena D’ Água, Antómica Atómica, Teatromosca, Catarina Requeijo or Noiserv, among others, said the organization in a statement.

Promoted by the company LAMA Teatro, the festival will take place in ten spaces in the city of Faro and will bring to the public a set of “artistic proposals designed for children and youth”, which will be able to access 13 of the 20 scheduled initiatives for free, he stressed. .

“The 4th edition of MOCHILA begins on May 16th, with the creative workshop Biblioteca Futuro, aimed at the school community and taught by Manuel Henriques. On May 17th, the same artist presents the theater show Biblioteca Futuro, in sessions for the general public and schools”, highlighted the organization.

The same source highlighted that, on the same day, the debate “How can the arts and artistic education attract young people to stay in the Algarve?” and the concert “Tum-Tum-Pisca-Tum”, by students from the Escola de Música Moderna do Sul.

The program also features theater shows such as “Viagem”, written by João Costa/Mãozorra”, “Água! Gastas?”, project by Estojo – Pedagogical Laboratory of LAMA Teatro, coordinated by João de Brito”, ”Cordão”, by Fértil Cultural, directed by Neusa Fangueiro, “Ritmo da Semente”, by Beatriz Teodósio and Patrícia Fonseca, or “Nacional 2”, by LAMA Teatro and Teatromosca, with concepts by Pedro Alves, João de Brito and Noiserv, he stressed.

“Muita Tralha Pouca Tralha”, by the company Formiga Atómica and with artistic direction by Catarina Requeijo and original text by Catarina Requeijo and Inês Barahona, “Uni-Verso”, by the Baixo Alentejo theater company Baal17, with staging and dramaturgy by Chiqui Pereira, and “Pic-Nic de Histórias”, by LAMA Teatro, coordinated by João de Brito and which presents stories told by Algarve interpreters, are other shows at the festival.

“In this edition, MOCHILA once again reinforces its international dimension, with three shows by foreign companies, all of them free entry and presented outdoors”, the organization also highlighted.

Among these shows are “Bufa i Rebufa”, by the Spanish company Cia. Enlaire, which takes place at Jardim da Alameda, on May 19th, “Pelat”, by Spanish dancer Joan Català, at Bandstand in Faro, on May 23rd, and “Tartana”, a new circus show by the Madrid company Trocos Lucos, scheduled for Doca de Faro, on May 26th, he said.

“On May 25th, at 7pm, close to the end of the Festival, Lena D’Água will give a concert at Teatro Lethes, which promises to entertain children and adults alike. On May 26th, at 6:30 pm, the 4th edition of MOCHILA comes to an end with Baile Tropical, by Discossauro (Miguel Neto), a DJ Set for all ages, with free entry, which takes place in Jardim da Alameda ”, he added.

The organizers recalled that the Mochila Festival aims to promote the decentralization of cultural offerings, democratize access to quality multidisciplinary artistic programming and encourage critical thinking among the public.
