The celebration day of the Taipas Volunteer Firefighters, who celebrated their 137th anniversary this Wednesday, May 1st, began with the raising of flags at the Institution’s barracks, followed by a pilgrimage to the cemetery and a tribute at the monument to the Firefighter . After the tribute, several elements of the corporation were decorated, the blessing of the new vehicles and the presentation of the new intensive care ambulance took place, in an event attended by Domingos Bragança, president of the City Council and Paulo Lopes Silva, councilor of the Guimarães City Council.

In his intervention, Domingos Bragança, President of the Municipal Council of Guimarães, considered the “firefighter associations, the volunteering done by our firefighters and the growing need for professionalization in the area” to be fundamental. For the mayor, it is only possible to protect well if, firstly, whoever protects is protected and the best way to do this is to “invest in personal protective equipment, in state-of-the-art technological equipment to combat different types of accidents, and in training constant support of our firefighters.” Demonstrating the willingness of the Municipality of Guimarães to continue supporting the Taipas Firefighters, Domingos Bragança called on all entities, national, regional and local, to share the necessary effort, so that the necessary equipment, training and remuneration can be provided. to the successful execution of his mission, concluding his intervention with a tribute and word of thanks to all the Taipas Firefighters.

Luís Soares, president of the Board of the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Taipas, thanking the support they have received from the Municipality of Guimarães, highlighted the importance of mobilizing the community, board presidents and parish priests in raising funds for the acquisition of the new intensive care ambulance, showing deep gratitude to everyone who contributed. Luís Soares also referred to the process of valuing human resources, stating that they wanted to “take firm steps”, having already carried out salary increases, preserving the financial health of the institution, and developing training activities for their staff, enabling the training and professionalization of staff members. corporation.

The solemn session began with two tributes, one to associate Alberto Ribeiro and the other to Commander Francisco Pereira, for his work and dedication to the cause of the Taipas Volunteer Firefighters, and the plaque was also unveiled that states the support that companies gave to the corporation . Then, the protocol interventions began, with the focus being the affirmation that it is necessary to improve infrastructure and modernize equipment and vehicles, in a ceremony that included, in addition to other individuals, the presence of deputies Ricardo Costa and Ricardo Araújo, the secretary of the Parish Council of Caldelas, José Fonseca, Sub-regional Commander of Ave da ANEPC, Rui Costa, the secretary of the League of Portuguese Firefighters, José António Beleza, and the president of the Federation of Firefighters of the District of Braga, Ana Luísa Damascene.
