The Public Ministry (MP) accused a man of trying to kill his ex-wife with a pitchfork on a street in Vagos, in the district of Aveiro, in September last year, the Porto Regional Attorney General’s Office (PGR- P).
On its official website, the prosecutor’s office explained that the defendant attacked his ex-wife, from whom he had been separated since March 2023, for not accepting the end of the relationship.
Despite being separated, the defendant continued to persecute, harass, insult and threaten his ex-partner with death, starting to live opposite his residence, he highlighted.
The PGR-P stated that on September 27th, the defendant equipped himself with a pitchfork and went to meet his ex-partner, as she was getting out of the car, and struck her successively on the body, including on the head, while insulted her.
“The defendant only didn’t kill the victim because the victim, in order to avoid some blows, was rolling around and, faced with the insistent noise of the victim’s dog, fearing that he would be detected by third parties, he ended up giving up his attacks, leaving the fork on the ground and running away. running”, explained the prosecutor.
At the time of the crime, the man was already accused of domestic violence and, therefore, prohibited from staying or approaching the couple’s home and his ex-wife’s place of work, as well as from contacting her by any means.
The suspect, who is now in pre-trial detention – a more serious coercive measure, is accused of a crime of attempted homicide and another of domestic violence against his ex-wife.
The MP also accused the defendant of four crimes of domestic violence, committed against the couple’s minor children.
