The case took place in Bragança. The arrests took place as part of an operation conducted by the PJ’s Northern Directorate, which involved several searches, at homes and at a camp.
The victim, who is now 54 years old, “was controlled and monitored continuously and her documents were in the possession of the defendants, which made her especially vulnerable”, reports the PJ.
The authorities discovered that the man lived in a degrading situation, without the minimum living conditions, health, hygiene and food. He spent the night in a junk van, in a camp. He was never allowed medical assistance, not even when he suffered a serious accident, ending up with permanent injuries to his lower limbs.
He ended up managing to escape, triggering PJ intervention.
