“Anonymous movements can ride”: Government proposal “must calm” the security forces

-

A Minister of Internal Administration will present this Thursday PSP unions and GNR associations proposed granting a subsidy to members of the security forces, equivalent to what is already paid to Judiciary inspectors. In an interview with SIC Notícias, Bruno Pereira, spokesperson for Plataforma of Snominees of the PSP and GNR Associations, admits that if the expectations of the security forces are not met, new protests could occur and the situation could reach a “unique dimension, difficult to control, difficult to manage”.

The Platform spokesperson of Snominees of the PSP and GNR Associations says that “there will be space and time to respect what could be a considered decision regarding the upcoming proposal, but it will have to come once and for all to calm down andthese police officers and it will have to be aligned with the high expectations that they have been creating”.

“Worse than having protests and there were weeks after weeks of hundreds of protests across the country, I fear that this can be an accelerator and can be like gasoline so that faceless movements, anonymous movements can take hold, gain dimension and we can lose some hand”, highlights Bruno Pereira.

The Platform spokesperson of Snominees of the PSP and GNR Associations refers to movements like those that have been circulating on social media that are already talking about a boycott of initiatives that will take place soon, such as the Portugal Rally.

“It is curious that for months the protests have been on an almost unassailable rise, but as I say when the expectations, especially in professionals whose main defense, their main duty is security, tranquility and social order, when they realize once again that their desires and their expectations will be disappointed naturally with inorganic movements and faceless movements, they gain dimension, gain traction and this can become difficult to manage, both from an institutional point of view and from a from a union point of view”, he explains.

Like this, the spokesperson Platform for PSP Unions and GNR Associations renews, on the SIC Notícias antenna, an appeal that he has been making over the last few months:

“This has to be resolved quickly, otherwise, as I say, it will take on a singular dimension, difficult to control, difficult to manage.”

The Government’s proposal will be presented this afternoon, in separate meetings, to the four socio-professional associations of the Republican National Guard and the six unions of Public Security Policewhich require an additional mission identical to that which the previous socialist Government attributed to the Judicial Police.

In the last meeting held with these structures, on April 22, the minister Margarida Blasco announced the granting of a subsidy to members of the security forces, but did not clarify whether it would be a risk subsidy or a mission supplement.neither the terms nor the amount will be paid to the security forces are yet known, referring to the proposal that will be presented this Wednesday.

At the end of this meeting, the GNR socio-professional associations and PSP unions left with some hope and expectations, taking into account that for the first time the minister assumed “as a priority of priorities” the attribution of a mission supplement.
