As part of the Activity Plan approved for 2024, APAL – Albufeira Promotion Agency organized an educational visit aimed at the main tour operators and travel agencies in Ireland, between the 22nd and 25th of April.

“The action aimed to promote some of the tourist attractions in the municipality of Albufeira, as well as providing conditions for carrying out commercial operations with APAL members”, the statement said.

The three days were filled with a program of activities that included a boat trip along the coast, an excursion into the interior of the municipality, visits to Oura and the old town of Albufeira and tastings in some restaurants in Albufeira.

In 2023, according to Travel BI, Ireland positioned itself as the 8th tourist market in external demand for Portugal, with 2.2 million overnight stays, the majority of which were registered in the Algarve. Ireland was also the 3rd main foreign market for tourists to the Algarve region, just behind the United Kingdom and Germany.

A workshop was also organized with a view to exchanging contacts and creating business opportunities between local companies and the 23 Irish agents who participated in this FAM Trip. Several entities were present: Zoomarine; Visacar; Water Smile; Alfagar; DHM; Vidamar; One Link; 3HB; Hotel Baía Grande; Algarexperience; Park Apartments; Algarve Resorts; AP Hotels (host); Dreamwave; Details; EC Travel; Easy Divers and Hotel da Aldeia.
