In betting, users’ preferred modality to place their bets was football, with 74.7% of the total. Next come Basketball and Tennis, which correspond to 20.5% of total sports bets placed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

In the case of online casino games, bets on slot machines accounted for 83% of the total. Soon after, French Roulette appears, totaling 6.9% of total bets in this period. Blackjack represents 4.7% of bets, while French Banking totals 3.3% and bets on Poker games 2.0%.

Players also have different preferences according to their age group. In the same period, players aged between 25 and 34 represented 35% of the total. In the case of players under 45 years of age, the proportion of registered players was 79.9%. Users aged between 18 and 24 represented 32.9% of total new registrations on the platforms.

In relation to the districts, Porto and Lisbon have the highest number of players, with 41.9% in total. Next come the districts of Braga, Setúbal and Aveiro, which total 24.9%. With regard to nationality, the last quarter of 2023 recorded 95.5% of players of Portuguese nationality.

During this period, Brazilian nationality accounted for 52.1% of the total number of registrations of players with foreign nationality. Cape Verdeans, Nepalese and Angolans, in turn, accounted for 21.4% of the total number of foreigners on these platforms.
