The management of Associação Desportiva Afifense presented its resignation en masse to the president of the General Assembly on April 28, a leadership led by president Carlos Sampaio.
On January 12, 2024, the Disciplinary Council of the Braga Handball Association, sentenced Associação Desportiva Afifense to a fine for incorrect public behavior during game No. 282, held on January 6, 202, under the terms of No. . 1 of article 56 of the Disciplinary Regulations of the Portuguese Handball Federation, based on a slanderous match report and without ensuring contradictory proceedings (Prior hearing).
For this reason, a Complaint was addressed under paragraph 5 of article 7 of the Disciplinary Regulations of the Portuguese Handball Federation requesting the nullity of the decision, due to the failure of essential formalities (contradictory) and the non-occurrence of the facts that would have motivated the punishment. However, by order of January 29, 2024, the Disciplinary Council decided not to uphold the complaint presented.
Given this situation, on February 7, 2024, an appeal was filed against the decision of the Disciplinary Council of the Braga Association of January 12, which imposed a fine of 500 euros, we request the nullity of the decision. Despite everything, the Justice Council of the Portuguese Handball Federation upheld the decision of the Association’s Disciplinary Council. Braga, by ruling of April 16, 2024, disfavors and recriminates the Associação Desportiva Afifense.
Accordingly, the Associação Desportiva Afifense management found that it did not meet the conditions to continue carrying out its functions, as it considered it to be the target of an unfair, discretionary and unprecedented conviction by the Disciplinary Council of the Braga Handball Association with the consent of the council. of Justice of the Portuguese Handball Federation.
It is important to mention that the Management of Associação Desportiva Afifense did everything in its power to defend its good name and restore the truth, in favor of the good functioning and prestige of the institution, but the fact is that the Disciplinary Council of the Handball Association de Braga and the Justice Council of the Portuguese Handball Federation prohibited this possibility, so there was no other option than the BLOCK DISMISSAL OF THE BOARD MEMBERS.
