APD Leiria and BC Gaia launch search for a place in the final

At Final Four of the Portuguese Cupto be played in Leiria, at the Pavilhão do Lis, Cortes, on the 4th and 5th of May, the “host” APD Leiria and the trophy holder BCG/Hosp. St. Mary – Porto open the competition, in the first semi-final, at 3pm. The meeting, broadcast on FPBtv, in light of the most recent duels between the two teams, promises balance. In the pre-qualification phase of BCR League, the Leirienses smiled, at home, defeating the Gaienses by 58-48. In the second phase of BCR Leaguethe northern team recorded a double triumph – 47-38 and 60-65.

Luis Ramosplayer-coach of APD Leiria, confidently projects the challenge, despite being aware of the rival’s capabilities. “Expectations are good. We have to correct some mistakes made in the last few games to be at the highest level, knowing that the team from BC Gaia It’s very strong and, therefore, we have to do our best. And may the best win”, he analyzed.

Already Marco Francisco, one of the most veterans of the Lis group, knows what it is like to win the Portuguese Cup and wants to repeat the feat, showing enthusiasm in his speech. “We are confident for this semi-final. It’s true that we will meet the national champions, a very strong and well-organized team, but we play in Leiria, in front of our home crowd and we have the conditions to reach the final. The team is motivated and focused to achieve this objective. That’s why I call on Leiria to mobilize and fill the pavilion to support us”, he launched the challenge, before outlining the recipe to be applied to circumvent the opponent’s virtues. “To overcome the BC Gaia, we need to nullify their strengths, with a strong and solid defense. We have to be focused and not make the mistakes of past games! With unity, team spirit and determination, the final will be an achievable goal. I have a lot of confidence in our team and my teammates to overcome this great opponent,” he said.
