The MotoGP Kazakhstan Grand Prix has been postponed until the end of the year, due to adverse weather conditions, the event promoters announced this Friday.

“It would not be responsible for MotoGP to add any additional burden to authorities or services as they work to help the tens of thousands of people affected across the country,” the championship organizers said in a statement.

Unprecedented weather conditions triggered flooding across Central Asia, causing a national emergency in Kazakhstan and displacing much of the population.

Sokol International Racetrack will not host MotoGP on the previously announced date of June 14-16 and any further updates will be published as soon as confirmed.

“As our highest priority, MotoGP sends its condolences and support to the people of Kazakhstan and all those affected by the floods in Central Asia. We hope that the nation, the region and the affected communities can recover as quickly as possible,” the statement said. .

The statement is signed by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), IRTA (team association) and Dorna Sports (organizer).
