The Government’s proposal for the new PSP and GNR mission supplement implies a loss of 517 euros in the Police director’s salary, while the biggest career increase does not exceed 196 euros.

According to calculations by the Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP/PSP), the proposal presented on Thursday represents a loss of pay for a significant part of police officers, when the two variables are removed (fixed at 100 euros and variable at 20% on the base salary) of the supplement for service and risk of the security forces (SSFS) to replace them with a mission supplement that defines a percentage of the base salary of the PSP national director, of 5126.22 euros.

In the mission supplement proposed by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), 7% of that budget is stipulated for the category of agents, that is, 365.14 euros. With the disappearance of the two variables that existed until now, the difference could vary between an increase of 72.86 euros for the salary level of an agent at the beginning of their career and a loss of 64.69 euros for someone already in the last salary position of that career. category.

For bosses, a percentage of 9% of the national director’s salary is reserved, that is, 469.46 euros. The difference between the new supplement and the removal of the two SSFS variables represents a maximum increase of 81.74 euros at the beginning of this career and a decrease in the limit of 57 euros for bosses at the top of this category.

Finally, officers see a percentage of 12% being allocated to them in the new mission supplement, that is, 625.95 euros. For those who have just left the higher police institute and who have the position of deputy commissioner, the executive’s proposal could translate into an increase of 196.12 euros — the largest in this mission supplement -, but for the top of this career , that is, the national director, the loss of money is also greater: 517.30 euros.

“Strictly speaking, taking one to give less, or giving a little, but taxing more… always resulting in losses. And the ASPP/PSP does not intend to feed something that was canceled in a clear-sighted way, due to the total opposition of all the unions Soon, the ASPP/PSP will meet its management, the Platform will also meet and the appropriate counter-proposals will be presented”, the union said in a statement.

In the same note, ASPP/PSP also called for intervention in this negotiation process by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, arguing that the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, must also do “justice to his position on this matter”.

The police demand a mission supplement identical to that which the previous Socialist Government allocated to the Judiciary Police, which in some cases led to an increase of around 700 euros.

At the end of the meeting with the minister, the leaders of the PSP unions and the GNR socio-professional associations expressed their complete opposition to this Government proposal and stated that they felt “extremely unfair”. The platform that brings together these structures will present a counterproposal to the minister at the next meeting, on May 15th.
