Pombal City Council will award financial support to the Associação Recreativa Cultural Desportiva de Albergaria dos Doze (ARCUDA) for the renovation of the synthetic turf at Campo Vale das Éguas. The investment, which covers 85% of the total cost of the new field, was allocated following an application by ARCUDA to the Pombal Municipality’s Artificial Grass Renewal Plan.
The decision, approved at the most recent executive meeting, was made after an analysis carried out by a multidisciplinary technical team, set up for this purpose, and which considered it to be an urgent intervention. The Campo Vale das Éguas lawn is around two decades old, having been the first installed in the municipality. The camps, according to “technical and specialized opinions, should have an average duration of 10 to 12 years”, states the Chamber’s press release. According to the technical team’s report, the Albergaria dos Doze field currently has some deficiencies, preventing the practice of sports, mainly due to the lack of safety conditions for athletes, aged between 5 years (Petizes) and 59 (Petizes) Veterans).
The Artificial Grass Renewal Plan of the Municipality of Pombal, within the scope of which clubs will be able to submit applications to replace their artificial grass pitches, “creates a rule that provides for the municipality to support 85% of the value, for the requalification of one lawn a year.”
“It was important for the clubs to know what they could count on, but the support will always be deliberated by the Chamber with the technical analysis of the investment”, says Pedro Pimpão, highlighting that in this way the clubs will be able to “work and do calculations with a view to obtaining funds to other sources of financing”. With this initiative, the Chamber says it wants to significantly improve the conditions for sports training in the municipality.
