The 11th edition of FITA – Alentejo International Theater Festival will take place in Castro Verde, from the 9th to the 11th of May. Until the 18th, the event takes place in several cities and towns in Alto and Baixo Alentejo.

The official opening session will take place next Thursday, May 9th, starting at 6:30 pm, at the Castro Verde Municipal Forum.

At the Cineteatro Municipal de Castro Verde, the plays “Bodas de Silêncio” (Brazil/Portugal . M12), by Companhia Lêndias d’Encantar, “Septimus y el viaje de los peregrinos” (Colombia . M12), by TeatroNacient, a Sensational trip inspired by “Twelve pilgrim tales” by Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Márquez, and “Memória de Pichón” (Costa Rica. M12) by Andy Gamboa.

The Festival is a partnership between the Lêndias d´Encantar Theater Company and Castro Verde Municipal Council and reflects a commitment to the internationalization of theater and presentations that encourage contact between theater structures among themselves and with the public.

Tickets cost 3 euros and are on sale at the Castro Verde Tourism Office.

In addition to Castro Verde, FITA shows will take place in Beja, Aljustrel, Arraiolos, Campo Maior, Ferreira do Alentejo, Mértola, Ponte de Sôr, Santiago do Cacém and Viana do Alentejo. Click here to see the complete program.

FITA – Alentejo International Theater Festival has been celebrating theater, dance, music, stages, artists, sets, cuisine and friendships for more than ten years.

«In 2024, we consolidate our partners, expand the Festival to more extensions, strengthen artistic exchange with national and international structures», highlights the Lêndias d´Encantar Theater Company.

This year’s edition features groups from Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, Cape Verde, Chile, Spain, Colombia and Portugal, affirming «FITA’s Ibero-American profile».

​«In 2024, we will reinforce co-productions and four shows will make their debut at FITA, we are proud to have chosen FITA to make their debut», adds the organizing company.

FITA continues to be «a space to promote artistic exchange between Portuguese creators and creators from the Ibero-American space, we continue to be a space of affection, conviviality, meeting, discussion, critical reflection and appreciation of humanism» .
