Madonna’s tour, the Celebration Tour, ends this Saturday (May 4th), with a free show in Rio de Janeiro that celebrates the 40th year of the career of the greatest pop singer in history. She will take the stage on Copacabana Beach in front of an audience of, according to statistics, around one and a half million people.
As it is the biggest concert of Madonna’s career and the last of the tour, it is likely that the singer will have some surprises up her sleeve: guests (Pabllo Vittar and Anitta are expected) and songs that are not usually part of the usual setlist (such as ‘ Like a Virgin’ or ‘Material Girl’, for example).The security operation surrounding the event is equally surprising. The Military Police mobilized 3,200 elements for the day of the event. Similar to what happened on New Year’s Eve, there will be 18 inspection points with metal detectors at the beach accesses and many streets closed. Bottles, glass containers and sharp objects will be confiscated immediately. Police forces will work with 12 facial recognition cameras, 64 vehicles and four drones. A control center will be set up in Praça do Lido and 65 patrolling towers will be spread out on the sand.
