Ghassan Abu Sitta, a surgeon of British and Palestinian nationality, was prevented from entering France this Saturday by the country’s border police. The doctor was in the Gaza Strip for a month and a half, where he witnessed several atrocities committed by the Israeli army, and was going to speak this afternoon at a conference organized in the French Senate, according to the newspaper. Le Monde.

According to the same outlet, the French police explained that they did not allow Ghassan Abu Sitta to enter because the doctor had been banned by the German authorities from entering any country in the Schengen area for a year.

“The police have made their decision, there is nothing more I can do. It’s like in Berlin, the criminalization of victims. The group behind the genocide tries to silence witnesses,” said the surgeon.

The organizer of the conference, the European Ecologist-Les Verts senator, Raymonde Poncet Monge, expressed her “total political disapproval”. The senator recalls that the environmental group contacted the office of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, to resolve the situation in Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, but to no avail.

“How can Germany enact territorial bans across the entire Schengen area? It’s unbelievable! This is a new stage in the repression of everything to do with Palestine,” said Raymonde Poncet Monge.
