Albertina Pereira is a woman “hard worker, warrior and present” at the Penhadouro Restaurant, in the parish of Penha Longa and Paços de Gaiolo, municipality of Marco de Canaveses, and in the lives of his two twin daughters, Eduarda and Mariana.

The Marcoense native has always worked in restaurants and in 1998, 26 years ago, she joined what would become her second home and business. When the daughters were “12 days away from turning ten”, Albertina Pereira lost her husband and had to take over the command of Restaurante Penhadouro. Even though time got tighter, Marcoense never stopped giving “kindness” to his daughters and, to this day, he does “of everything” to ensure that “they lack nothing”. In an interview with the newspaper A TRUTH, she says that when she found out about the pregnancy, she experienced moments of “emotion, concern, but a lot of joy” and only stopped working close to the day he saw his daughters born.

Eduarda and Mariana are also “very grateful” for all the effort their mother makes and they reciprocate, whenever they can, by helping her in the restaurant. “We grew up around pots and pans, so it was natural for us. We got used to catering since we were little and, although we don’t consider pursuing this area, we are always there to help our mother”share.

Currently, young women are in college studying Social Service and Management and Public Administration, but whenever they can, on weekends, on vacation or at events, they continue to be the “right arm” of the mother. “Eduarda and Mariana are sweet daughters. I couldn’t have better ones, they are present and well behaved, I have no reason to complain and I know I always have them there when I need them”.

Now that they are 19 years old, their daughters confess that during the summer “It costs a little more, but it is also when there is more work, we understand that by helping our mother, we are helping to develop the business”.

Experiencing catering and spending long hours serving tables made the young women recognize the work “difficult” of the mother. “Sometimes we just want to be out for a walk or at home with our mother and we have to be here because it’s a job that requires long hours.” Even so, when there is time for that, there are still moments for a threesome that “overcome all adversity”.

Although the loss of her husband was a difficult time “very hard”Albertina Pereira guarantees that she did everything she could. “It was difficult to be without my father early, there were 12 days left before our daughters’ tenth birthday and I ended up having to play the role of mother and father, but I did my best and I think I did it”.

With the month of May being marked by Mother’s Day, Eduarda and Mariana leave some words of affection: “We have a hard-working, loving and friendly mother, who never let us lack for anything. Thank you for everything you do for us. Happy Mother’s Day!”finished.

Albertina Pereira shares that being “bi-mother” is to have “double love. Every weekend and night at work is spent thinking about their well-being.”
