A list A, headed by Arlindo Brites, aged 62, obtained 250 votes, against the 206 votes of list B, led by Nuno Santos.
In a universe of 462 voters, from an electoral roll with 609 registered activists, there were still six blank votes for the Political Commission and four blank votes for the Assembly Board. No invalid votes were recorded.
Arlindo Brites told the Lusa agency that the victory rewards “the effort of the entire team” that accompanied him in this electoral process.
“We now have a lot of work ahead of us”, he added, to highlight that, “without forgetting the European elections” on June 9, the main challenge of the new local Political Commission “is to return Leiria to the PSD”, whose City Council is in the hands of the PS.
In the election of the Assembly Board, list A, led by João Paulo Leonardo, obtained 252 votes, while list B, headed by Fábio Bernardino, received 206 votes.
In 2021, the PS won the elections for the Chamber of Leiria, with 52.47% of the votes and eight mandates, while the PSD, with 22.38%, won three seats in the municipal executive.
