The Municipality of Marinha Grande had to increase the number of school meals to be prepared this academic year, adjusting to the growing number of students from migrant families who have been arriving in the municipality, explained Aurélio Ferreira and Ana Alves Monteiro, president and vice-president. president of the municipality at the last chamber meeting.

There are another 25,985 meals (140 more meals per day), which correspond to an investment of more than 94 thousand euros, explained the mayors, and the overwhelming majority will be served at the Marinha Grande Nascente School Group.

“We are filling classes and this is the group that has the greatest capacity to receive. The Marinha Grande Poente School Group is completely full”, informed Ana Alves Monteiro.

“In pre-school and first cycle, in the next academic year, we will have to hire two model structures”, said the councilor.

“We are working on multiculturalism. We need people to work and they are welcome”, highlighted Aurélio Ferreira.

At the same chamber meeting, the requalification projects of Escola Secundária Pinhal do Rei, in Marinha Grande, and Escola Secundária José Loureiro Botas, in Vieira de Leiria, were also approved, which estimate a total investment of more than 12.5 million euros , who will be candidates for the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
