Renato da Silva and Bernardo Rocha, both from Team BMX Quarteira, were highlighted in the superclass races of the third and fourth stages of the Portuguese BMX Cup, held this weekend in Coimbra.

Despite still being a junior, Bernardo Rocha was the strongest in Saturday’s race, relegating Renato da Silva, already under-23, to second place. On Sunday they reversed positions. In the overall Cup, Renato da Silva is in charge, with 55 points, six more than Bernardo Rocha.

The main female category, + 15 years old, also had different winners in the two days of competition. Ambre Beato (DN Joué-les-Tours) debuted in the Portuguese Cup with a triumph. But, on Sunday, Rita Xufre (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside) regained hegemony on national territory, reinforcing her command in the overall Cup with a victory.

The trend of different winners was also evident in the men +17 category. On Saturday, Kayo Camilo (Casa do Povo de Abrunheira) took over, a leading role that, the following day, went to Gonçalo Carvalho (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside). The regularity of Martim Almeida (Clube Bicross de Portimão), second in both stages, allowed him to hold first place overall.

In the youngest scoring categories for the Portuguese Cup, there were three runners who completed the race, winning on Saturday and Sunday. This was the case of Francisco Sousa (Team BMX Quarteira), in under-17s, Joaquim Pinto and Maria Pinto (Casa do Povo de Abrunheira), in under-15s.

Alexandra Loureiro (Pinhalbike Team/Associação Desportiva) won, in women’s masters, the four stages of the Cup already contested this season. Bruno Berto (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside), on Saturday, and Nuno Carvalho (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside), on Sunday, were the best in cruisers +40 years old. But the Cup overall is topped by Paulo Domingues (Casa do Povo de Abrunheira).

The fight for the collective general is very heated. Clube Bicross de Portimão leads the Cup, with 77 points, five more than Casa do Povo de Abrunheira, which prevailed on Saturday, and seven more than Team BMX Quarteira, the strongest team on Sunday.

The next BMX competition will be the National Championship, to be held on June 8th, on the Setúbal track.
