The parish of Immaculate Heart of Mary marked Mother’s Day on Sunday morning, in a religious ceremony held in the Parish Church, which was decorated to celebrate this date.

The mass, celebrated by Father João Carlos Gomes, parish priest, was solemnized by the Choral Groups of the Parish and the Casa do Povo do Immaculado Coração de Maria.

At Thanksgiving, the instrumental version of Schubert’s song “Ave Maria” was played by teacher Maria Zita Gomes, to the sound of the violin.

Before the end of the mass, the president of the Parish Council of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pedro Araújo, addressed a few words to all the mothers present, from whom he asked for a warm round of applause.

The mothers were invited to go up to the altar, where they were presented with a flower and a postcard, a gift from the Parish Council, while the song “Amor de Mãe” was sung, in an emotional moment, which left no one indifferent, exalts the Council.

In addition to members of the executive, the president of the Parish Assembly of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Marsílio Aguiar, and the president of the local Casa do Povo, Simplício Pestana, were also present.
