Son of the president of the Spanish Constitutional Court caught with drugs. Find out who Pumpido Varela is – International

The 43-year-old lawyer, son of Cándido Conde-Pumpido, president of the Constitutional Court of Spain, was hospitalized this Monday, May 6, following a psychotic episode, after taking drugs and trying to invade private property. Dand according to “El Mundo”, Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela tried to enter the Mediaset facilities in Madrid, claiming to want to see private recordings of his that, supposedly, a Telecinco program would have.

This is not the first controversy in which the son of the president of the Constitutional Court has been involved. In 2023, he was arrested, on November 3, for alleged attacks on a stripper, who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Varela, along with two other men, as reported by “El País”. However, months later, the woman, whose identity is unknown, withdrew the complaint against Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela, which led to the case being closed.

More recently, at the end of April, he was arrested again, this time for attempted murder and threatening a woman. According to “20 Minutos”, Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela was accused by his wife of trying to kill her while they were both traveling in a car on the highway. An episode very similar to the one that, in November 2023, resulted in a complaint of sexual assault. Another woman, who later withdrew her complaint, says she was sexually assaulted by the lawyer at his home, on the outskirts of Madrid.

In 2018, Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela had already been investigated for allegedly committing the crime of money laundering, according to the newspaper “O Globo”.

Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela began his career as a lawyer in 2003. He is a contributor to Antena 3 Notícias, on the program “Espejo Público”. He was also a university professor at the European University of Madrid between 2012 and 2014.
