Prison guards at the Custóias prison, Matosinhos, stopped the escape of an inmate considered very dangerous, of Brazilian nationality, belonging to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) in the middle of the afternoon on Monday. Remember that the PCC is the largest criminal gang in Brazil and South America, and according to the Judiciary Police and the Information and Security Services, it is already infiltrated in Portugal.

The news of the aborted escape was confirmed to the CM by the National Prison Guard Union (SNGP). According to this structure, guards at the Custóias prison detected the prisoner trying to escape through the roof next to the prison’s laundry room. In his possession he had a backpack, containing a homemade rope made from sheets 11 meters long.

The inmate, who is in preventive detention, always leaves prison with an escort reinforced by the Prison Services Intervention Group.

Frederico Morais, leader of the SNGP, told the CM that The lack of security in prison establishments is enormous, at a time when the Union is negotiating with the Minister of Justice the mission supplement, this is yet another reason for granting it the same to colleagues from the judicial police”.

“The increase in dangerous inmates increases the risk of prison guards’ lives,” he concluded.
