Braga will once again be the epicenter of national and international motorsport, with the mythical Rampa Internacional Falperra. The 43rd edition of the category’s premier European race takes place from the 17th to the 19th of May, with the best drivers from the National and European Mountain Championships present, in an edition that promises to bring more than 150 thousand motor sport fans to the City.

With an “excellent organization”, the race features a “luxury squad” with 140 registered pilots, in an event involving more than 360 employees and volunteers. This year, sustainability is the organization’s “strong focus”, with a special focus on environmental issues.

“The Rampa da Falperra is one of the greatest moments in the life of our City and is much more than a sporting event. It is an iconic and striking event, which attracts thousands of motorsport fans to watch one of the most emblematic events in international motorsport up close and which generates a financial return of many millions of euros for our commercial fabric, particularly for the sector of restaurants and hotels”, said Ricardo Rio, president of Braga City Council, during the presentation of the event that took place this Monday, in the municipality’s Salão Nobre dos Paços.

In this edition, a fleet of electric vehicles will be used by the event organizers and digital communication will be used. The distribution of water to pilots and teams is no longer made in plastic bottles, but instead uses its own tanks and biodegradable cups, in an action promoted in partnership with Agere. During the planting season, and to offset carbon emissions, more than 600 trees are planned to be planted.

This is a race organized by CAM, with the approval of the FIA and FPAK – Portuguese Automobile and Karting Federation. Rogério Peixoto, president of the Clube Automóvel do Minho, said that all the conditions are in place for this edition of Rampa da Falperra to repeat the success achieved in recent years.

“We have been working to evolve, in terms of organization, in all areas and our main focus this year was, in particular, both on safety and environmental sustainability”, he explained, adding that around 150 meters of rails were placed throughout the entire length of the race and that a large part of the route will have a new surface.

PARADE AND LIVE STREAMING

The race will be broadcast live streaming on Rampa da Falperra’s social networks and on the Jornal Record website. Screens will be placed along the route so that spectators can watch all the emotions of the race, as well as a public address system.

Spectators will have 12 pedestrian areas spread throughout the perimeter, some of which have paid access and two bench areas. The pedestrian zones are located in different areas of the race and the pedestrian ticket gives access to all zones.

One of the most anticipated moments is the car exhibition and the parade through the city. In this edition, the car exhibition takes place next to the Pópulo building, starting at 11:30 am on the 17th of May, and at 7:00 pm the parade begins towards the falperra, passing through the main streets of the city.

As usual, Transportes Urbanos de Braga (TUB) is associated with this event and provides a transport plan for Rampa da Falperra, with return tickets for 1 euro.

All information about the race is available on the event website at www.rampadafalperra.pt
