This is the menu that the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) will present in the 3rd edition of “International Day”. On May 15th, the Trás-os-Montes academy campus will be the epicenter of global flavors and knowledge.

“Studying and living in a multicultural, inclusive and global environment is an experience that, as a university destination in Portugal, we want to ensure. ‘UTAD International Day’ is a sharing event that values the cultural background of our students, national and international, making their identity known to other members of the academic community and the local community”, says the vice-rector for Internationalization, Luís Ramos.

In this 3rd edition, Mozambique will be the guest country at “UTAD International Day”, showing how its culture has ingredients, rites and traditions that will result in typical dishes such as matapa and badjias, in traditional games such as M’pale and Ntxuva . “From now on, we will have a country invited to each edition, highlighting and valuing the cultural and human richness of each one of them. Starting with an African country like Mozambique has a huge symbolic burden, because UTAD has Africa in its DNA. Many of its former, and some of its current, teachers have African and, in particular, Mozambican roots and we cannot and do not want to ignore these roots”, explains the vice-rector for Internationalization.

From Colombia to East Timor, from France to Pakistan, there will be snacks and sweets from more than two dozen countries. The global recipe will be reinterpreted by international students in the Kitchen Lab. Once prepared, the delicacies will be presented and tasted at the University Center, starting at 7 pm, where more than three hundred participants are expected.

“UTAD International Day” will also be a fun-artistic mix, with intercultural games, entertainment activities, ethnic rhythms and a new exhibition.
