Salão Nobre da Piscina Solário Atlântico hosts event on May 10th with hundreds of Portuguese Olympians

More than a hundred Portuguese Olympic athletes will participate in the 21st anniversary of the Association of Olympic Athletes of Portugal (AAOP), an event with the support of the Espinho City Council, which will take place on the 10th. May, Friday (7:30 pm), in the emblematic Salão Nobre of the Solário Atlântico Swimming Pool in Espinho.

After the celebration of Cascais’2022 and Matosinhos’2023 Olympics, now in 2024, the year of the Olympic Games, the “Espinho Olímpico” will appear, where once again, athletes of all ages will socialize and learn about AAOP’s activities and the support that it intends to give to all Olympians, particularly with regard to their post-sporting career.

As the 2024 Olympic Games approach, AAOP wants to take the opportunity to pay a special tribute to the Olympic athletes from Espinho, Miguel Maia, João Brenha, José Carvalho and posthumously António Leitão.

This year, not only the athletic excellence of these athletes is celebrated, but also the Olympic figure of the year and the Olympic athletes who assumed important federative positions are honored, such as Manuel Barroso (modern pentathlon) and Paulo Frischknecht (swimming), and the Olympians who this year are running for president of federations of their respective sports,
Domingos Castro (athletics), Cândido Barbosa (cycling) and Miguel Arrobas (swimming).
