With the bathing season just around the corner, there is an urgent need for intervention on the walkways that give access to the beaches in the municipality. The alert was made by Liliana Silva who gave as an example the poor condition of the walkway in Âncora where there was an accident recently.

“As you know, that walkway is in bad condition. There was another accident there recently, and an ambulance had to be taken to provide assistance. There are broken boards, fallen logs, and I believe that a municipality like ours that says its main wealth is tourism and quality equipment, cannot have the walkways in that state. Urgent intervention was needed on those broken boards.”

Access road to Foz do Minho very damaged

Another of the repairs was related to the poor condition of the road that leads to Foz do Minho beach. “The road is damaged, the sidewalks are almost impassable with bushes and potholes. An area that is guided by tourism, and where thousands of pilgrims pass through, should have different care and attention”.

Regarding this road Rui Lages recalled that this is an artery that is the responsibility of the ICNF. “We are talking about a forestry path that is managed by the ICNF”.

As he explained, the poor condition of the road, with many bumps, is due to the roots of the trees in the Camarido National Forest, “an area that is protected and very sensitive”.
