A The Portuguese women’s football team entered the Under-17 European Championship on the wrong foot late this Monday afternoon, as a result of the 3-0 defeat it suffered against its Spanish counterpart.

Celia Segura scored, in the 69th minute, the goal that undid the draw, at Malmo IP, in Sweden. A move that excited Alba Cerrato, who also scored in the 77th and 82nd minutes (the latter converting a penalty), to seal the final result.

All in all, at the end of the opening day, Spain and Poland share the lead in Group B, with three points each. Belgium and Portugal follow, still with the count at ‘zero’.

The quinas team will return to action, next Thursday, from 12:00 pm (Mainland Portugal time), against Belgium, and close the group stage on Sunday, against Poland.
