Altino Bessa, Isabel Estrada Carvalhais, José Matos Cruz and Rui Vieira de Castro are the personalities from Braga who are candidates for the ‘Personality’ award, one of the awards that Direnor will present, at the gala on the 16th of May, at Forum Braga.
The nominees for the XXVII ‘A Nossa Terr’ Awards are now known. In each category there are four nominees, one of which will be distinguished with the symbolic statuette that depicts the Keep, which are already known.
For the ‘Carreira’ award, the finalists are: José Alfredo Ribeiro – ‘Cabeça Negra’; José da Silva Fernandes – ‘Couples’; José Duarte Araújo – ‘Mestre Meirim’; and Tobias Álvares da Silva.
Avelino Amorim, Deolinda Azevedo Barbosa, Maria do Pilar Barbosa and Paula Sepúlveda are the names nominated for the ‘Altruism’ award.
In the ‘Arts and Culture’ award the finalists are: Camilo Silva, Jorge Ulisses, José Gonçalves and Rui Ferreira.
Acácio Ribeiro, Angelina Pinto, José Hermínio Machado and Mário Meireles compete for the ‘Associativism’ award.
In the ‘Science and Education’ category, the finalists are Américo Afonso, Ana Maria Caldeira, Licínio Lima and Regina Campos.
In the ‘Sports’ award, the nominees are Artur Jorge, José Sousa – ‘Chalana’, Mariana Machado and Sara Rocha.
André Marcos, Inês Teixeira, João Pedro Freitas and Rita Duarte are the finalists in the ‘Youth’ category.
In the ‘Music’ award, the finalists are Ana Vieira Leite, Miguel Simões, Orchestra of the University of Minho and Orquestra Filarmónica de Braga.
Finalists Hortense Santos, João Nogueira, Pedro Casinhas and Ricardo Silva are nominated for the ‘Local Power’ award.
In the ‘Saudade’ category, this award was established with the purpose of posthumously rewarding personalities from the municipality who have distinguished themselves in the most diverse areas. Only the person honored will be publicly announced, without any nominees, despite following the same voting method.
It should be remembered that the regulations for the ‘A Nossa Terra’ Awards stipulate that honorees from previous editions cannot be honored again and that it must distinguish candidates who are natural, resident or carrying out regular activities in the municipality of Braga, or even natural, with important activities outside this municipality.
The voting process consists of three phases and involves a jury with several hundred individuals and entities, representing the most varied political, religious, cultural, social, tourist, recreational and artistic areas and sensibilities, allowing the desired scope and exemption.
The main objective of this event, which is now in its 27th edition, is to recognize the merit of citizens and entities that have stood out in important actions in favor of the community, the municipality, the region or the country, in the various sectors of activity.
