These workers fight for the right to work, consecutively barred by Kafkaesque rules, imposed by the PSD/CDS municipal executive of the Aveiro City Council.

These workers are required to issue a license depending on the approval of the Chamber, with a maximum duration of 90 days per year for each location.

Furthermore, in accordance with the Advertising and Occupation of Public Space Regulations and Opening Hours of the Municipality of Aveiro, approval depends in particular on the assessment of artistic quality. Assessment is subjective, and it remains unclear who carries it out.

Aveiro is the Portuguese Capital of Culture during the year 2024. For the PCP this is not merely a title. True support for associations and artists in the municipality is required.

The Aveiro Municipal Commission of the PCP, anchored in respect for the Constitution, the democratization of culture and the right to artistic creation, understands that Aveiro must be a city truly open to the arts and that the licensing process for the performance of street artists must be simplified and free of charge.
