The 57th edition of the Rally de Portugal will feature 22 qualifying stages, to be held between the center and north of the country, from Thursday to Sunday.

The fifth stage of the World Rally Championship (WRC) is the one with the most special features on its route since the 2012 edition, when, held between Lisbon and Algarve, it had the same number of stages.

The Portuguese race, which opens the European dirt phase of the WRC, presents a similar route in 2024 to last year, with a total of 1,690.12 kilometers in length and 337.04 timed kilometers (compared to 335.26 in 2023) .

According to the organization, run by the Automóvel Club de Portugal, the main novelty is the 22 special classification stages.

The action starts, as usual, on Thursday morning, in Baltar, with the ‘shakedown’ [aquecimento] of 4.61 kilometers, followed by the official departure ceremony, again in Coimbra, starting at 5:00 pm.

The competitors then head to Figueira da Foz, for the opening super special, this year measuring 2.94 kilometers and starting at 7:05 pm.

Friday opens with the traditional dirt stages of the central region, with the Mortágua stage (18.15 km) to be covered twice, opening and closing the day, and double passes through Lousã (14.30 km ), Góis (14.30 km) and Arganil (18.72 km).

Two passes are reserved for Saturday through Felgueiras (8.81 km), Montim (8.69 km), the longest of the rally in Amarante (37.24 km) and Paredes (16.09 km). The day ends with the Lousada super special (3.36 km).

Sunday’s stage features double passes through the 19.91 kilometers of Cabeceiras de Basto, of which 12.6 are completely new, and the iconic 11.18 kilometers of Fafe, also the usual stage for the ‘power stage’.
