The morning was one of celebration at Estádio do Dragão, but André Villas-Boas did not forget the tough “arm’s length” he fought with the management led by Pinto da Costa. The new president fights for timely access to dossiers fundamental in the life of the club, but has encountered resistance from SAD administrators – who refuse to speed up the process. In his inauguration speech, just a few meters from the people targeted, André Villas-Boas left a final appeal, appealing to the need to start taking charge of the club’s destiny.

“I could not fail to end this speech without appealing to the common sense of the FC Porto SAD administration! Your resignation would never be considered an act of escape, but rather a noble act that would elevate you”, reiterated André Villas-Boas.

In recent days, the former coach had several meetings with the administrators who are now out of office, in an attempt to co-opt José Pereira da Costa, SAD’s future financial administrator, into the “dragons” structure. None of those responsible showed willingness to make the place available, keeping Pereira da Costa out of office. André Villas-Boas was also forced to deny a statement from the club, after the “dragons” announced the co-optation of the former NOS administrator, something that did not happen.

“The club does not have two presidents, it has a president elected by the express will of the members in a change. Delaying the inevitable is postponing the construction of a stronger FC Porto for the future and I am sure that this is what your Excellencies want”, stated Villas-Boas.
