Antoninho Marta remembered by Capela Marta in its 120 years

The Capela Marta Cultural Association will promote, from May 7th to 18th, a series of initiatives, to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Antoninho Marta.

The first activity is a gathering called “Recordar Antoninho”, which takes place this Tuesday, at 9:30 pm, at the Clube Naval Povoense Headquarters and will be moderated by Tiago André Pereira. The opening was in charge of Paulo Neves, president of the Clube Naval Povoense and the speakers were: Raúl Gomes (Marta), Tomás Pontes, António Quilores, Abel Carriço and Paulo Sousa and João Magalhães.

On May 10th, Friday, a concert will take place at the Marta Júnior Chapel, at 10pm, at the Argivai Parish Church, as part of the festivities of Nossa Senhora dos Milagres.

On May 11th, Capela Marta organizes the “Obrigado Antoninho” pilgrimage, which will depart at 3pm, from the Igreja Matriz da Póvoa de Varzim with a stop at cemetery nº 1, while on the day of his birth, May 12th, at 9pm, A choral concert takes place at the Church of S. José de Ribamar. The show will feature the participation of the Capela Marta Choir, directed by Tiago Pereira. The Marta Chapel will be joined by the Coro de La Costa (Uruguay), directed by Nilda Moreira and the Agrupacion Coral Fusión Del Sur (Uruguay) directed by Gilset de Oliveiera.

The show “Festejar Antoninho” will take place, on May 18th, at 9:45 pm, on the Pedra do Passeio Alegre Stage with performances by the choirs Capela Marta and Júnior, from the Poveiro, Tricanas da Lapa, Belém, Estrela do Norte, Tricanas do Cidral and Praça (Vila do Conde). Rusga da Póvoa will also take the stage.
