The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses the suspects – who, at the time of the incident, would have been between 19 and 20 years old – of lining the inside of bags with aluminum foil (where they contained the stolen items), thus managing to prevent the alarms from being activated. when they crossed the cash lines of commercial establishments.
During the first trial session, which took place this Tuesday morning at the São João Novo Court, in Porto, several store managers were also interviewed, who were responsible for providing the police authorities with video surveillance images.
The MP says that the defendants, “acting in coordination with each other”, appropriated branded pieces of clothing, computer equipment, game consoles, mobile phones and small household appliances, in Gaia, São João da Madeira, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real , Braga, Rio Tinto, Oliveira de Azeméis, Porto, Covilhã, Aveiro, Santa Maria da Feira, Maia, Chaves, Póvoa de Varzim and Guimarães.
The prosecution claims that one of the defendants, who participated in 26 thefts, obtained profits of more than 23,500 euros, while another obtained more than 15 thousand euros, through 15 thefts. The remaining six together obtained almost 14 thousand euros, in 14 thefts.
