Music and atmosphere back in an edyllic setting at Azores Burning Summer

Mmusic, cinema, ecodesign, electric vehicles, debates, ‘land art’ and community actions constitute the ingredients of the event, which “values ​​the quality of the public’s experience and its relationship with the surrounding nature”, according to the organization .

The event is promoted by the Regional Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism, Environment, Culture and Health, which presented it today in the parish of Porto Formoso, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.

On the first night of the festival, especially dedicated to Cape Verde, the main attraction is the artist Mayra Andrade accompanied by Djodje Almeida on acoustic guitar, who makes her debut in the Azores with the project “reEncanto”, according to the poster.

Azores Burning Summer intends to mark the second night with the return of the artists who most marked the event, such as Moullinex Live, Da Chick and Xinobi Live, among others, along with dj sets by Isilda Sanches, Herberto Quaresma and Pedro Tenreiro.

The musical night will end with the duo Moullinex & Xinobi in a ‘back-to-back’ that “promises a lot of entertainment”, according to the organizers.

At a festival that takes place in a edyllic bay on the island of São Miguel, one of the main events is Vive, a community health program that “aims to improve health literacy levels and promote healthy lifestyle habits among the local community”.

This is an initiative whose target audience is the population residing between the parishes of Porto Formoso and Fenais da Ajuda, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande.

The festival organizers will once again develop cinema on the beach, with the screening of four films over four nights, on the terrace of the Moinho Terrace Café, in Praia dos Moinhos.

The eco market, a fair dedicated to ecodesign and natural products, is also back, along with the electric vehicle expo, as well as the festival program especially dedicated to children.

This is a collaboration with the Okeanos Institute and the Azores Sea Observatory which, through the Habitat community program, will “develop educational activities about the Azores sea in all institutions in the Ribeira Grande atl’s network, with the aim of cover around 300 children and young people.
