Vila Real, Alijó and Vila Pouca de Aguiar will host, this Wednesday and Thursday, the first Douro Business Forum. The event is organized by Nervir – Associação Empresarial de Vila Real, and aims to help companies in the region to showcase themselves and gain scale.

The forum is an initiative that the management, led by Mário Rodrigues, began to idealize when he began his mandate in May 2023. At the time, he defended the organization of a “major annual event”. The objective would be to “show what companies already do well” and bring to Douro “other people’s vision of what to do in the coming times”.

Having arrived at the first Douro Business Forum, the aim continues to be to contribute to “valuing companies” from Trás-os-Montes and Douro, so that they can “gain scale and be stronger”.

The program is divided into three locations (Vila Real, Alijó and Vila Pouca de Aguiar) so that a forum is not concentrated in the district capital, Nervir’s headquarters.

Vila Real hosts, this Wednesday morning, at Casa de Mateus, a debate on “The challenges and future of companies in low-density territories”. There follows another on “The impact of Portugal 2030 and the Recovery and Resilience Program for small and medium-sized companies”. “Associations as a critical factor for the development of territories and companies” is the theme for the last morning panel.

During the afternoon, there are two sessions in Vila Real. One dedicated to “Transformative industry” (at Régia Douro Park) and another on “New technologies and digital” (at UTAD). “Agrifood, tourism and wine” will be debated at the Theater

Alijó Auditorium and “Engineering, architecture and construction” will be discussed in the Vila Pouca de Aguiar Municipal Auditorium.

As the forum also aims to be an opportunity for companies to do business, they will be able to contact representatives from chambers of commerce and industry and potential national and international customers (Spain and the Netherlands). This program is reserved for Thursday.

The presence of representatives from the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Luso-Spanish, Luso-German, Luso-Chinese, Portugal – Hong Kong chambers of commerce and industry, the Luso-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce is confirmed. of Commerce, Industry and Services of Valladolid (Spain), as well as the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Angola.
