JMR, from Famalicão, and Toronobre, from Barcelos, show their work at international fairs. Companies in the wood sector will be present at Maderalia, the largest Iberian event in the sector, in Valencia, Spain. Toronobre also went to the United States to participate in the HD Expo, which took place in Las Vegas between April 30th and May 2nd.
In Spain, between the 14th and 17th of May, 13 Portuguese firms will be present, in a participation organized by the Association of Wood and Furniture Industries of Portugal (AIMMP), in the context of the project Inter Wood & Furniture 2022-2024 – a project to support the international promotion of the wood and furniture sector, namely to expand markets and increase exports by companies.
Vítor Poças, president of AIMMP, highlights that in this participation “in Maderalia, Portuguese companies will pave the way for strengthening the sector’s exports in a market of enormous relevance for Portugal. By presenting the excellence of the Portuguese portfolio, they are opening doors to new markets and opportunities for international growth. Through the internationalization plan, Inter Wood & Furniture, AIMMP is shaping the future of the industry, expanding horizons and taking Portuguese excellence beyond borders.”
The presence in Las Vegas comes after “a few years of strong investment in the Middle East market” by AIMMP. In 2024, the bet was made in the United States of America. “The maturity of the sector, along with the growth in exports outside traditional European markets, namely to more developed countries such as the USA, are the main reasons highlighted by AIMMP for the strategy of the internationalization investment plan for 2024, in within the scope of its Inter Wood & Furniture project”, explains the association, in a statement sent to O MINHO.
The AIMMP leader highlights that this participation in Las Vegas, at HD Expo, represents a significant milestone in the internationalization journey of Portuguese furniture and interior design companies”.
