The LAR@Home team from the Automation and Robotics Laboratory of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho, in Guimarães, secured first place in the RoboCup@Home league.

This achievement took place at the RoboCup Portuguese Open 2024, which took place between May 2nd and 5th in Paredes de Coura.

In this competition, in one of the competitions, the RoboCup@Home league, robots have to perform domestic tasks such as carrying bags, serving breakfast, serving a table or ensuring some rules within the house.

It was with the robot CHARMIE (A Collaborative Healthcare and Home Service and Assistant Robot for Elderly Care), which recognizes vocal commands and responds through a friendly face, can move with four omnidirectional wheels, has an arm to pick up objects and always knows where it is inside the house, that the LAR@Home team from the Automation and Robotics Laboratory of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho won the trophy.

This robot is being prepared to participate in the world championship, RoboCup 2024, which will take place this year in Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, from the 17th to the 21st of July.
