Guided tours, painting, tile-making and potter’s wheel workshops are some of the proposals of the Municipality of Barcelos to be held at the Pottery Museum from the 11th to the 18th of May, as part of the celebrations of National Tile Day, International Museum Day and “Good Morning Ceramics”.

To mark National Tile Day, the Municipality of Barcelos prepared two activities to publicize this architectural manifestation. Next Saturday, May 11th, at 9:30 am, the Office of Archeology and Historical Heritage will organize an interpretation tour within the scope of the “Programa + Património”, with a guided visit to Eduardo Nery’s tile panel, installed on the exterior facade of the Pottery Museum building.

Participation in the activity is free, but requires prior registration, through [email protected] or by phone 915288428. On the same day, between 10:30 and 12:30 and 2:00 and 5:00 pm, the tile workshop with Cristina Vilarinho takes place inside the Pottery Museum.

From the 14th to the 18th of May, the Pottery Museum also features educational activities and practical workshops for schoolchildren, under the theme “The fundamental role of museums as dynamic educational institutions that promote discovery and cultural understanding”.

On May 18th, the day on which International Museum Day and European Museum Night are celebrated, several activities take place: at 10:00 and 15:00, guided tours of the Pottery Museum, aimed at the general public, but with Registration is mandatory and limited via email [email protected]; at 9:30 pm, as part of the European Museum Night, rakú cooking of ceramic pieces takes place, with João Carqueijeiro, in the garden of the Pottery Museum, culminating the program at 10 pm, with another guided tour of the Museum.

Also on May 18th, in the “Bom Dia Cerâmica” program, between 10:00 and 12:00 and 15:00 and 17:00, there is space for a moment of experimentation on the pottery wheel, led by Fernando Russo. The initiative is aimed at the general public and takes place in the garden of the Pottery Museum.

On May 19th, at 3:00 pm, there will be a painting workshop aimed at families, called “Cristas, the Talking Rooster”.
