IAPMEI – Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation distinguished 296 companies with the PME Leader 2023 Status in the Alentejo region. In total, they represent a turnover of 1.3 million euros (24.3% more than in 2022), exports of 239 million euros (72.25% more) and profits of 82.3 million euros.

Of the 296 companies distinguished, 34% are from the commerce sector, 15.7% from industry, 11.22% from agriculture and fishing, 10.54% from tourism, 10.2% from construction and real estate and 7.14% from services .

The Évora district leads the distinctions with 131 PME Líder 2023, followed by the Beja district (98 companies) and Portalegre (65).

This year, IAPMEI distinguished a total of 11,368 companies in the country with the PME Líder 2023 Status, of which 3,602 secured this seal for the first time.

The PME Líder status is a reputation seal created by IAPMEI to distinguish the merit of national SMEs with superior performance. It is awarded in partnership with Turismo de Portugal (in the case of companies in the Tourism sector), a set of partner banks and the Banco Português de Fomento Group, based on the best rating scores and economic-financial indicators.

PME Líder has access to a set of benefits, such as special conditions for financial products and a network of services, facilitating relationships with banks and the prestige associated with the PME Líder brand in its relationship with its stakeholders.
