The new AD government was involved in unexpected and controversial replacements for public administration positions.

Ana Jorge was dismissed from Santa Casa da Misericórdia, but the Ministry of Health made an order obliging the institution’s board to remain active until replaced, under penalty of the crime of abandonment of duties if its members refused to remain in management.

The same ministry asked the resigned executive director of the National Health Service for a summer plan for 2024, so that the same thing that happened the previous year does not happen, but Fernando Araújo refused.

This week, the national director of the Public Security Police was dismissed and the police asked the Minister of Internal Administration for explanations about the reasons for the decision. It is foreseeable that other changes will follow soon. Is this inevitable? Wouldn’t it be more advisable for the Government and State not to get confused as so often happens? Does it make sense to talk about political reforms?

In this P24, we listen to political scientist José Adelino Maltez.
