Parking at the three hospital units – the University of Coimbra Hospitals hub, General Hospital (Covões) and Pediátrico Hospital – will start to be paid for in October.
The measure is part of the new mobility plan for ULS in Coimbra presented in April by Alexandre Lourenço, president of the board of directors. The document, which is under internal discussion until the end of this month, will have “a special impact on hospital units”, and aims to reduce trips to hospitals, promote the use of public transport and light mobility, and regulate parking.
In a written response sent to DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS, the president of the ULS board of directors states that “traffic regulation involves controlling access to hospital units, guaranteeing free circulation for 15 minutes and a progressive increase in parking spaces. parking.”
“As an example, it is estimated that, within two to three years, 2,856 places will be made available in HUC, compared to the 1,293 currently existing”, notes Alexandre Lourenço.
