Judicial employees return this Wednesday to the general strike, for an indefinite period, between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm, every Wednesday and Friday, in all organic units and courts and Public Prosecutor’s Offices, according to the union.

In this new general strike [a anterior acabou em finais de abril] marked by the Judicial Employees Union (SFJ), does not include minimum services, “due to the fact that it is a strike that does not conflict with the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens”.

In the advance notice, the union also warns that “strike workers cannot be replaced by non-members who are not normally assigned to the competent service” and highlights that “any proposal regarding the safety and maintenance of facilities is also not necessary and equipment”.

The SFJ demands for the class the inclusion in the due date of the procedural recovery supplement with effect from January 21, 2021, that is, the payment of the monthly amount in 14 annual installments, “as a result of the commitment made by the Government that this supplement would be integrated in remuneration and which has already been included in two State Budget laws for 2020 and 2021”.

They also demand the opening of a competition for access to all categories whose positions are vacant as Deputy Clerk, Deputy Justice Technician, Law Clerk, Principal Justice Technician and Secretary of Justice, “as the courses for access to the positions are valid leadership”.

The union also wants the “urgent opening” of 500 new jobs for Justice Officers, “under penalty of imminent collapse of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) services”.

On strike, also for an indefinite period, and with the same demands, since Tuesday, the judicial employees who work in the courts and MP services have been on strike between the time designated for the beginning of the proceedings in each of the departments and ending at 12:30 pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

However, this advance notice from the SFJ guarantees the carrying out of urgent actions that must be carried out on shift days.

Thus, the presentation of arrested detainees and defendants to the judicial authority and the carrying out of immediately subsequent acts will be guaranteed, the carrying out of procedural acts strictly indispensable to guaranteeing the freedom of people and those intended to protect rights, freedoms and guarantees that would otherwise be cannot be carried out in a timely manner, the adoption of measures whose delay may cause harm to the interests of minors, namely those relating to their appearance in court and the fate of those who are in danger and urgent measures under the Mental Health Law.

To guarantee the performance of these services, a Court Officer from the Judicial Career and a Court Justice from the Public Prosecutor’s Office are appointed, on a rotating basis across all categories that provide services there.
