The professional course in Pastry/Bakery Technician and the after-work course in Kitchen Management and Production are the new training options of the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Algarve de Faro, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Next year, the first class of the recently created Tourism Management course will also start, taught in English, which will respond to the record number of international applications that arrived at EHTA.

The Algarve Hotel and Tourism School received close to 400 international applications, as many as those that took place in the Special Regime phase, which took place last April and which was dedicated
to young people not resident in Portugal or the European Union.

The majority of foreign students from 23 nationalities applied for the Tourism Management course, taught entirely in English. Nigeria, Burundi, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Philippines, Gambia, Nepal, Liberia are just some of the countries of origin of the many young people who intend to study at Escola do Algarve.

For the various courses taught in Portuguese, Angola leads the list of PALOP countries
with the most applications in this Special Regime, followed by Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau
and Brazil.

For EHTA “The success achieved by former international students who graduated from our school seems to be one of the factors that contributes to this popularity across borders of the School of Hotel Management and Tourism of
Algarve”

«The best ambassadors are, without a doubt, our international alumni. A high percentage successfully completes training at our school and goes on to work in Portugal. In fact, the majority get a job right away at the company where they completed their internship. The message that these young people convey to their countries is that it is possible to come here to study and be successful. Here, their dreams come true» says Maria Eduarda Freitas, responsible for the National and International Applications Department at EHTA.

According to the school, “international students who choose to return to their countries of origin” will be “more qualified and prepared to contribute to the development of their countries in the area of Tourism”.

As for national students, the first phase of applications is now open and runs until June 18th (for professional courses, post 9th year) and July 16th (for post 12th year courses).

Students finishing the 9th year have a new training option at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School. The Pastry/Bakery Technician professional course will reinforce the traditional range of offerings that cover the areas of Kitchen, Pastry, Restaurant and Bar.

The Kitchen Management and Production course will also be launched next year, for the first time after work.

At the Algarve School of Hotel and Tourism there are 189 places for courses in the areas of Cuisine, Pastry, Restaurants and Beverages, Hotel/Accommodation and Tourism Management.
