A 21-year-old young man, who was under house arrest, cut off his house bracelet and went to Feira de Leiria, where he ended up being detained by PSP agents.

According to a note from the Leiria District Command of the Public Security Police, the man was complying with a coercive measure applied for allegedly having committed a crime of robbery in Lisbon.

Resident in the Coimbrão area, in Leiria, the young man cut his electronic bracelet and left the house where he lived, having been found next to a carousel at the Leiria Fair.

“After reporting that the bracelet was damaged and realizing that the defendant had abandoned his residence, the police from the Criminal Investigation Squadron mobilized immediately, managing to intercept him inside Feira de Leiria”, says the communicated.

The suspect was present, this Tuesday, at the Central Criminal Instruction Court of Lisbon, and the coercive measure was changed, “due to his non-compliance and, consequently, his preventive detention was ordered”.
