Resende will delight visitors with roasted pork and cavacas during the Gastronomic Weekend

From the 24th to the 26th of May, the Municipality of Resende will promote the Gastronomic Weekend, in partnership with Porto and Northern Portugal Tourism, with “good gastronomy” throughout the weekend.

In this edition, the initiative has the participation of nine restaurants: Douro Marina Hotel & SPA; Douro in sight; Caldas Restaurant; The Gentleman; You Pay; Light Source; Ms. Maria; O Bom Sabor da Nela and Churrasqueira Pepitos, which will “the offer of a welcome glass of wine to our region throughout the gastronomic weekend”explains the municipality, in a press release.

Furthermore, visitors who decide to stay overnight will have a 10% discount on accommodation, on Friday and Saturday nights, at the following participating spaces: Hotel Comércio; Douro Marina Hotel & SPA; Quinta de S. Pedro; Quinta do Fojo and Vald’ Aregos – Rural Tourism.

Furthermore, those interested can experience visits to the following farms and wineries, by prior appointment: Quinta da Massôrra (965 053820); Quinta do Formigal (938 577 456), Quinta das Fontaltas (916 416 954); Terrus Douro (918 627 605/935 381 726) and Quinta de Fornelos (917 930 333).

On Saturday and Sunday, from 3pm, the Resende Interactive Tourism Store will offer tastings and tastings of wines paired with Resende’s cavacas, with plenty of musical entertainment: Fados Night (May 24, at 9:30pm), group R2CA (May 25th, at 4pm) and Estrelas da Primavera (May 26th, at 3pm).

On Saturday, May 25th, Resende City Council invites all visitors to participate in the Caminhada Romeira, gathering at 10:30 am at the city hall or at 11:00 am, at the Capela de S. Cristóvão, with a route through Felgueiras, Beirós, Cárquere, ending at the Interactive Tourism Store, in Resende.

On Sunday, May 26th, the highlight is the traditional celebration of the 4th Sunday of May, in Cárquere. A grand pilgrimage to Santa Maria de Cárquere, a “secular ritual that constitutes a landmark of religiosity in the diocese of Lamego and the region and is worth knowing and experiencing”.

Finally, the municipality will offer free visits to the Resende Municipal Museum, where you can discover “more deeply into the municipality, its traditions, uses and customs”.
