VILA DE PRADO – GNR soldiers from the Braga District Command promoted social gatherings at Praia do Faial

More than a hundred and a half soldiers from the GNR chose the river area of ​​Faial, on the right bank of the Cávado, in Vila de Prado, Vila Verde, for a social day promoted by the soldiers of the Braga Territorial Command.

Between sporting and recreational activities, the day is spent walking, running, swimming, cycling, volleyball, phyto, Swedish, among others.

Taking advantage of the picnic area in that area, lunch was held outdoors, taking advantage of the tranquility and beauty of Faial and the Cávado river.

Bean rice, steaks and a pig on a skewer naturally helped to “recharge the batteries”.

«I took office a year and a half ago and, today, I was amazed by this space, which has all the conditions for practicing sports and for us to live together», observed Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Morgado, commander of the Braga territorial command of the GNR, in statements to the newspaper ‘O Vilaverdense’.

Regarding socializing, the person responsible described it as «a healthy way to get together, escaping the stress of everyday life and cultivating a little more camaraderie, getting to know each other better».

The Vila Verde City Council and the Vila de Prado Parish Council, as has already happened in similar events, joined the event, “opening the doors” of that beach and welcoming all members of the GNR.

«It is a source of pride to have the “Vila dos Sonhos”, here next to the ecovia, to welcome all these people, to whom I thank for being the first intervention force to defend our territory, always leaving us with a feeling of security », said the mayor of Vila Verde, Júlia Fernandes, who was also present at the gathering, alongside the council team and the mayor of the town of Prado, Albanos Bastos.

In fact, the president of the Parish Council of Vila de Prado began by recalling the «excellent personal and professional relationships» maintained between the two bodies, to then show «the full availability of the Parish Council to collaborate with the authorities», creating conditions for “everyone to enjoy this place”.

These gatherings, held sporadically, aim to bring together as many soldiers as possible from Braga’s subunits, providing them with a day without uniform and away from operational activity.
